The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Engaging A Gym Instructor

By Chris Chew

You want to become healthier and to get into shape and is thinking of hiring a gym instructor or a fitness personal trainer to achieve your desires. So what are the advantages and disadvantages of engaging fitness professional trainer’s services?

Well, the first thing that comes to your mind would probably be the cost. Can you afford the gym instructor services for private individual training and guidance?

Fitness professional fees vary rather widely for different instructors very much dependant on their experiences and qualifications. But one thing is for sure, think really hard before hiring the cheapest instructor you can find. They are much cheaper for various reasons.

Perhaps they are newbies just starting out and you may then end up with someone with little experience and knowledge. Ask yourself do you want these types of instructors?

You may think of it this way, if a sym instructor is good and knowledgeable, is this person going to price his services that low? On the other extreme, there are able and well qualified instructors who charge very high fees because they have impeccable track records and glowing testimonials from their clients.

The problem is that the services of these professionals are usually out of reach for ordinary people. So the best way is to choose a good instructor who is within your budget.

An obvious drawback of engaging a good gym instructor is that you cannot be lazy when working out with him/her. This is because you would have stated goals to this person, and so your instructor will have to push you to reach your objectives.

So if you are to skip workout sessions, you will have to do so at your own cost and that can be rather painful to your pocket, so it is unlikely that you will miss any sessions unnecessarily.

This may not be a drawback after all because if you are pressured to workout diligently, then you can get your desired results faster and that was what you wanted in the first place when you hired the gym instructor, isn’t it?

I have to admit that there are some instructors who take pleasure in pushing their clients beyond their limits. If you think that your trainer is doing that, then you may like to tell this person to take things a more slowly. There are also some people are sensitive to being pushed around and if you are one of these folks, then engaging a gym instructor may not be a good idea for you. So do consider this point thoroughly.

Having a professional gym instructor to provide you with the right kind training and good nutritional guidance can change your life for the better in not only achieving your health and fitness objectives but also a change to healthier and better lifestyle. The knowledge you gain from your instructor will stay with you for life enabling you to live a healthier lifestyle if you choose to do so.

Over and above that, you will be working out with the right exercises in the correct form to achieve your goals and you will have lesser risks in getting gym related injuries some of which can be very painful and permanent. So after weighing all the advantages and disadvantages, you can then come to a decision of whether engaging a gym instructor is your cup of tea.
